Katherine May

Katherine works as an artist, designer and researcher tracing the threads that weave together textiles and society. Underpinned by social and cultural contexts of garments and textiles, she works with processes of collecting, gathering and archiving to make textiles, colours, catalogs and site based gatherings. Often combinations of these form components of each project. With her acts of gathering Katherine makes space for conversations that question prevailing processes of value production.

Katherine is based in London where she trained in Textile Design (BA) and Materials, Anthropology and Design (MA). She also works as a Lecturer on the MA Fashion programme at Goldsmiths University and as Associate Lecturer for MA Textile Design at Chelsea College of Art and mentors a variety designers through the Crafts Council and University of the Arts London mentor schemes.
