About
You’ve seen his work all across London, reminding us that ‘Love Always Wins’ and that ‘Better Days are Coming, I Promise’: it’s the most in-demand designer and artist of the year, Yinka Ilori MBE. Hear him in conversation with the head of curatorial and interpretation at the Design Museum, Priya Khanchandani.
Yinka Ilori is a London-based multidisciplinary artist who specialises in storytelling, fusing his British and Nigerian heritage to tell new stories in contemporary design. He began his practice in 2011 upcycling vintage furniture, inspired by the traditional Nigerian parables and West African fabrics that surrounded him as a child.
Humorous, provocative and fun, each piece of furniture he creates tells a story, bringing Nigerian verbal traditions into playful conversation with contemporary design.
Joining him is the highly accomplished writer, curator and commenter Priya Khanchandi. Alongside her role as head of curatorial and interpretation at the Design Museum, she has contributed to outlets such as Frieze, The White Review, Disegno and more.
Join to learn more about Yinka’s journey as a designer and artist in this inspirational talk.
