About
Join Rémy Martin for an evening at John Lobb, the world’s most famous bespoke bootmakers.
John Lobb Ltd is a family-run company that is world-renowned for their extremely high levels of craftsmanship and the fully bespoke shoemaking service that they have offered since 1849. Every pair of shoes produced for a customer of John Lobb Ltd goes through a 50 hour, 190 step process.
At the heart of this process is a pair of hand-carved wooden lasts, made to the precise form of the customer’s feet. It is an integral part of the process that enables further shoes to be made to the exact same specification.
The lasts are not only beautifully sculptural objects in their own right, but are also artefacts of a unique and fascinating legacy. Since 1849, the list of customers of John Lobb Ltd has grown to include Queen Victoria, King George V, Aristotle and Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, Duke Ellington, Frank Sinatra and Sir Laurence Olivier.
Since 2018, photographer Richard Boll has been producing a set of photographs that serve as both an archival document and an artistic visual record of the lasts of the remarkable range of historically significant people who have chosen to have shoes made by the original John Lobb company.
These photographs lead the creative assets for an evening at John Lobb, acting as an introduction to a view of the workshop and famous last room located on 9 St James’s Street.
Enjoy exclusive cocktails and tastings from Rémy Martin while meeting the last makers, including the Lobb directors, fifth generation members of the Lobb family.
Guests will also receive gift bags to take away, including items from John Lobb, Truefitt & Hill and Remy Martin.
