As part of London Craft Week, we are thrilled to invite artist Beñat Olaberria to join us in leading an immersive workshop, co-creating abstract, monochromatic collage works on paper.

This hands-on session offers a rare and exciting glimpse into Beñat’s creative process in the lead-up to our 2025 Artist Collaboration collection. Developed collectively with Beñat, this exclusive collection will launch later this year, and the workshop serves as a preview of the artistic vision behind it.

Guests will have the opportunity to experiment with different materials such as canvas, paper, charcoal, ink, as well as an array of different textiles. There will be two separate workshop sessions throughout the evening, ensuring that each participant leaves with their very own Beñat inspired artwork to take home.

Even if you’re not actively participating, we encourage you to join us and observe the creative process firsthand. This is a great opportunity to meet Beñat, learn about his finely crafted artistic style, and will serve as a perfect introduction to Knots Rugs x Beñat Olaberria rug design collaboration.

Originally from Spain, Beñat is a London-based abstract painter with a non-impressionistic, non-narrative, and non-reductive approach, and his practice delves into the unknown territories of his mind. His work takes the viewer on a journey into the unexplored regions of his mind, where he allows intuition to guide his creative process. Like in an unplanned walk, he constructs layered abstract pieces by reacting to his initial nervous and impulsive marks. By layering organic and black mark-making with fragmented geometric shapes, charcoal lines, thick acrylic paint, dirt, and liquid gestures, he offers traces of intimate moments in time and space.

The event will take place on Thursday the 15th of May from 5pm to 9pm at Knots Rugs Showroom on King’s Road. Guests can enjoy themed cocktails and drinks from the bar, as well as a selection of delicious food. Workshop numbers are limited so please email to register.
