About
Imogen Richards is an artist/maker based in Birmingham. Her visual language developed through her painting education at Edinburgh College of Art and her Master’s degree in Ceramics at Staffordshire University in Stoke-on-Trent.
She aspires to create romantic, abstract, and functional work, experimenting with intuitive paintings on and with clay. Her playful and energetic compositions, marks, and palette are dictated by the form and texture of each thrown and altered piece.
Imogen draws inspiration from the theatricality and comfort of nature, as well as surrealist animation, resulting in otherworldly scenes that balance on the edge of reality.
