Linda Bloomfield is a potter, designer, author, teacher, and an expert on ceramic glazes. She works in porcelain on the wheel as she makes tableware and ceramic sculptures inspired by lichens, these often have dimples and visible throwing lines, allowing the hand of the creator to be seen. Additionally, she uses tactile satin matt glaze on the outside of her works and colour on the inside.
She has created whole tableware sets for restaurants and has also developed her own range of glazes with a particular interest in translucent colours that are obtained using oxides rather than commercial stains.
She has exhibited at Collect Open, Ceramic Art London and Fresh Air Sculpture. She has a PhD in engineering, writes books on glazes and teaches glaze workshops around the UK and Europe.
