About

Kerry Hastings works using the ancient technique of coiling; this is a method that suits her temperament very well due to it being a slow, meditative and mindful process. No noisy machinery, just a few tools: the hands, a wooden paddle and a metal tool for scraping and refining the forms. Her training on the BA Ceramics course at the University of Westminster was a traditional one: digging their own clay, building kilns, making glazes and intensive hours of making both on the potter’s wheel and building by hand.

Throughout her career, she has worked with Tate Britain, Conran and Heal’s on Tottenham Court Road to produce ceramic collections however,  it was during lockdown that she found time to develop her work into a more expressive and sculptural direction.
