About
The Odd Chair Company makes their furniture and upholstery frames in-house and has been doing so since 1969. They believe that the foundation of every exceptional piece of furniture lies in its frame. Their commitment to quality craftsmanship starts with the careful selection of quarter-cut solid Beech, Oak, Utilie and Walnut from responsible sources. Their team of skilled artisans draws on time-honoured traditional cabinet and upholstery techniques. This meticulous attention to craftsmanship and detail ensures every curve and joint is executed to perfection, resulting in a piece of furniture that is built to last a lifetime. They understand the importance of comfort. Over the last 50 years, their master craftsmen & women have methodically crafted each piece by hand using only traditional methods and materials to create unrivalled comfort. From individual hand-tied springs to coir, hessian, the softest lambswool, and loose curled hair, they select materials that not only provide a firm and supportive base but also enhance the longevity of your furniture.
Enjoy an immersive experience as The Odd Chair Company brings their 200 years of experience to the Pimlico Road. On Tuesday 12th May, visit them to meet their team of artisan crafters and have a go at the skills of carving, caning, seagrass weaving and traditional upholstery. Undertake a brief masterclass in the quintessential British skills that they strive to champion. Their founder and maker, James Cook, will share what it takes to make the most comfortable upholstery.
