About
Colour shapes how we experience the world. It influences how we feel, our wellbeing and even our health. It informs the design and craft of products and spaces — from the handmade to the mass produced, from our homes to public places. de Le Cuona has invited Anna Starmer – colour futurist, photographer, colour consultant and self-confessed colour ‘magpie’ – to create a live colour story installation along a 7.5m worktable in the brand’s flagship showroom at 44 Pimlico Road. Visit the showroom on Monday 11th May to watch Anna develop this inspiring installation, drawn from de Le Cuona’s natural textile colour pallette and shaped by her years of colour curation. The installation will be in situ for all of London Craft Week.
Anna Starmer has an exceptional sense of colour and materiality. Her work is described as sensual, visceral, rich and tactile. She is a collector and treasure hunter, gathering ideas and inspirations from around the world. Alongside creating still life and interior imagery, she travels globally each season, taking evocative photographs to inspire herself and her clients. Through photography, Anna builds mood, narrative and emotional depth.
Through her future-colour research studio, Luminary, Anna has guided global colour direction for more than 25 years. Her colour library, Luminary books and client palettes forecast the future of colour two to three years ahead. At Luminary’s Sussex studio, Anna also leads experiential workshops exploring inks and dyes made from foraged plants, hedgerow flowers and even food waste. Her immersion in design, colour creation and consultancy gives her a profound connection to product, surface, pattern and texture. She has collaborated with some of the world’s most renowned brands, from Manolo Blahnik to Marks & Spencer.
de Le Cuona is rooted in nature. Founder and CEO Bernie de Le Cuona grew up in South Africa and its landscapes, flora and fauna continue to inspire the brand’s textures and colours. The soul of the company lies in the unique tactility of its natural interior textiles and natural palette. These shared values are why de Le Cuona is proud to host this colour installation during London Craft Week.
