Course Description:
Spring Leaves is a gentle introduction to goldwork embroidery, designed to celebrate the arrival of spring. In this relaxed three-hour taster, you’ll stitch a simple yet elegant design of leaves on a stem using metallic threads. The course focuses on creating a light, natural feel, with the leaves delicately worked to capture the fresh, rejuvenating spirit of the season. You’ll learn essential goldwork techniques as you add subtle texture and shine to each leaf, making it come alive with metallic threads. It’s the perfect way to welcome spring, creating a charming little design that reflects the beauty and simplicity of the season.
Techniques & Breakdown:
This exciting taster class offers a contemporary intro into the art of goldwork embroidery, starting from the very basics of the technique. Hand & Lock’s expert tutors will guide you through fundamental skills, including threading a needle, applying pearl purl and colourful cutwork embroidery (with tips and tricks from our tutors). Delve into the diverse characteristics and properties of various metal threads, followed by immersive instruction on their use, allowing you to bring to life an exquisite design that showcases your new found skill.
