About
Behind the scenes: learn floral Millinery crafts, silk painting on scarves and practice the art of pleats – join English National Opera’s Head Milliner, Head Dyer and Head Cutter as they demonstrate three different skills. Either how to make a beautiful floral corsage using artificial flowers, which can be added to a brooch pin or hair comb of your choice; how to perfectly paint onto silk for a hand painted scarf of your own; or produce a variety of pleats and all the possible ways to apply them. All costumes for every English National Opera production are made with superb skill by their in-house and freelance specialist Makers of the Production Costume Department. Take part in this workshop to learn just one of the many crafts adopted for our costumes. Located at English National Opera’s Costume Workshop in South West London, the event includes a practical hands-on session, opportunities for Q&A’s with the team, plus a brief tour of the Costume Production site.
