About
Mint is pleased to present ‘CTRL Matter’, an exhibition exploring the ever evolving terrain between technological systems and organic processes, where bio-material processes encounter technology not as opposition, but as means of connection. Bridging realms of matter and code, the works presented here reposition traditional technologies alongside AI prompts, crafting new visualities that question how we see, make, and relate.
The exhibition features handcrafted organic work by Milan Pekař alongside 3D-printed furniture inspired by toys from Silvia Sukopova and playful design approaches by Thanos Paspaliaris. These works transcend binary distinctions—between natural and synthetic, as seen in Wontek and Matthijs Koerts, and between human and machine, as explored by Vera van der Berg and Lucas Zito. What emerges is not seamless fusion, but productive tension: imperfect systems in dialogue.
Other works explore the richness of craft and process, such as pieces by Cedric Breisacher, Akiko Hirai and Tereza Sluková, alongside the material artisanship of Rens and Studio Thiers & van Daalen. These are juxtaposed with the playful multimedia installation by artist HUIHUI and the inventive material reuse of Atelier LVDW. By interchanging realms of biology, materiality, and computation, the exhibition proposes an expanded understanding of material creation — one that is adaptive, entangled, and ecologically aware.
The exhibition also explores alternative modes of storytelling and display, as seen in the photographs of Remi Bouvier, recontextualised in dialogue with organic shapes and forms found in the varied designs of Studio Remy.
These are only a few of the designers selected for CTRL Matter. Transcending the boundaries of medium and discipline, the works invite viewers to reconsider authorship, agency, and the politics of production. AI prompts act not as replacements for human imagination, but as catalysts for new forms of collaboration.
