About

Berry Bros. & Rudd invites you to join them for an evening that explores the deep connections between craft, nature and sustainability, in conversation with artist and maker Emma Witter and cultural expert and Founder of The Wick, Katy Wickremesinghe.

Witter’s practice is rooted in a close relationship with the natural world. Drawing inspiration from landscape, geology and organic form, her work reflects an intuitive, respectful approach to materials — shaped by time, touch, and a sensitivity to the environment from which they come. For Emma, craft is not simply about the finished object, but about process, provenance and an awareness of how we work with, rather than against, nature.

Set within their historic London Shop, this intimate conversation will explore how these ideas resonate within the world of Berry Bros. & Rudd. From vineyard to bottle, distillery to glass, wine and spirit making is inherently shaped by climate, soil and season, and guided by the careful decisions of skilled growers, makers and blenders. Sustainability, in this context, is inseparable from craftsmanship: a long-term commitment to land, people and tradition.

Throughout the evening, guests will enjoy a thoughtfully chosen selection of wines and spirits, each reflecting a respect for nature and a considered approach to production.

As Britain’s oldest wine and spirits merchant, Berry Bros. & Rudd has worked with generations of producers who understand that true quality depends on stewardship — of vineyards, raw materials and ecosystems — as much as expertise. It is a philosophy that aligns closely with Emma’s own approach to making.

Emma Witter’s works will be displayed in the shop during London Craft Week and throughout the month of May, inviting visitors to experience her nature-led practice in dialogue with our world of wine and spirits.
