About
Tweed on Screen –The Really Wild Clothing talk about the fabric of British storytelling, hosted by Nadja Swarovski
Join us at the Really Wild Sloane Square boutique on Friday, 15th May at 5pm, during London Craft Week, for a special event that honours British heritage, craftsmanship, and the enduring presence of tweed in contemporary film and television.
Hosted by Nadja Swarovski, Chair of the Board and Chief Creative Officer, Tweed on Screen places this quintessentially British fabric at the centre of a conversation about storytelling, identity, and design. A longstanding champion of artisanal excellence, Nadja Swarovski brings together leading voices from fashion and film to explore how heritage materials continue to shape global culture.
Moderated by Lydia Slater, Editor-in-Chief of Harper’s Bazaar UK, the talk features acclaimed costume designer Anna Mary Scott Robbins. Her work on productions set in the recent past — including Downton Abbey and The Last Letter from Your Lover — illustrates how costume and cloth define character, era, and social nuance with striking precision.
Once rooted in the traditions of the British countryside, tweed has evolved into a powerful cinematic language. In period dramas of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, it instantly signals place and identity — evoking landscape, class, and national character through texture alone.
Celebrating British craft through contemporary culture, Tweed on Screen reflects Nadja Swarovski’s commitment to supporting heritage textiles while reimagining them for modern storytelling and fashion.
Please visit the Really Wild Clothing boutique all week 10.30-6.30pm Monday -Saturday to celebrate British Craft.
