About

“Start with a Rug” – Robert Kime

With antique textiles and rugs being an integral part of any Robert Kime interior, attention to
the craft of restoration is a key, important part of the process. Join Robert Kime in their Pimlico Road showroom for a day with expert restorers and makers as they work on projects to repair, construct and even utilise these items in a new way. Also, discover how they use their fabrics and restoration process to influence our decoration projects.

Robert first visited Turkey when he was about 16 years old, purely for travel and discovery. One of his favourite places was a tiny textile and rug shop in the Grand Bazaar, filled with modest but wonderful items. He used to visit them at least once a year, and now Managing Director Orlando Atty continues with this tradition, finding rugs and textiles for both the showroom and decoration projects.

At Robert Kime, when they say ‘start with a rug’, they mean start with one that you like and are drawn to. Kilims, Oushaks, Konya & Heriz carpets will be available to view and purchase, as well as the opportunity to speak to the team to find the perfect fit. Their restorer will be on site to show how they utilise their craft to ensure these antique treasures are made good for use today.

Textile restoration is equally as important, with their in-house team working with antique textiles daily, making sure they are restored to the highest quality for use not only as hangings, but as cushions, lampshades and upholstery fabric.

Join Robert Kime on Wednesday 13 May to experience restoration at its most nuanced, as they
demonstrate bringing antique rugs and textiles to life again at Robert Kime.
