About

For the 2026 edition of London Craft Week, City & Guilds of London Art School will host a vibrant two-day event that showcases some of the historic and contemporary craft skills they champion on their undergraduate and postgraduate courses. Visitors are invited to enjoy this engaging programme of activities and gain a unique insight into the Art School.

CARVING COMPETITION & OPEN STUDIOS
The carving studios will be open, with first-year students participating in a themed carving competition judged by visitors and a panel of experts. Second and third-year students will show works in progress, and visitors can try stone and wood carving themselves.

CONSERVATION DEMONSTRATIONS
BA (Hons) Conservation students will give demonstrations of different conservation techniques and processes. Their Decorative Surfaces Fellow will also provide demonstrations of painting techniques.

GILDING DEMONSTRATIONS
Visitors can enjoy gilding demonstrations in their Gilding Studio, and find out more about the specialist craft of applying gold leaf to surfaces and objects.

PRINTMAKING WORKSHOP
Take part in hands-on printmaking workshops held in the Art School’s historic print room on Saturday, 16 May. Workshops are one hour long and require booking via Eventbrite. Over 18s only.

EXHIBITIONS
View the exhibition of entries for the Art School’s Drawing Prizes, which is open to Carving and Conservation students. An exhibition of their National Saturday Club members’ work will also be on display, showcasing the heritage craft skills that their 13-16-year-old participants have been learning this year.
