About
A chance to visit the historic Pewterers’ Hall, home of the Worshipful Company of Pewterers, one of the ancient craft guilds residing in the heart of the City of London. Within its splendid interior are displays of pewter that showcase the craft over the 550 years since the granting of their first Royal Charter.
Visitors can tour the Hall and see displays of pewter both ancient and modern. Working pewtersmiths are on hand to discuss their work and explain their craft. There are representatives of large pewter manufacturers: Wentworth Pewter in Sheffield, A. E. Williams in Birmingham, and Royal Selangor, from Malaysia, who are happy to show how the trade sits in a national and global market. Representing modern craft are pewtersmiths Gordon Robertson, Gill Clement, and Trish Woods, among many others, to talk about their artistic journey, inspirations, and design process. You can also have the amazing opportunity to take some of these handmade and unique pieces home with you.
You will also be able to delve into the Worshipful Company of Pewterers’ historic collection, filled with rare items from the Roman era all the way up to the present day. Experts within the Company will be on hand to detail the stories behind the creation of the objects, and how they came to be within the collection. They will also be able to chat to you about the history of The Pewterers’ Company, showcased within the walls of Pewterers’ Hall.
Pewter Live 2026 sees the reintroduction of the ‘Masterpiece’ Competitions, open to working pewtersmiths, and students studying the craft, who have selected from their work over the last year, a favourite piece for this event. Previous student winners have gone on to forge careers as professional pewtersmiths due to the platform provided by Pewter Live, and previous open winners have been able to set up their own businesses to work full time in pewtercraft.
Whether you are already an avid collector, an established designer/maker, or want to learn more about pewter and the livery world, Pewter Live 2026 has something for everyone to take away with them.
