About
Anna Starmer is the founder and creative director of Luminary Colour, a bi-annual global colour forecast publication and colour research studio based in East Sussex. She is a colour futurist, photographer and self-confessed colour ‘magpie’ with an exceptional sense of colour and materiality. Her work is described as sensual, visceral, rich and tactile.
Through her future-colour research studio, Luminary, Anna has guided global colour direction for more than 25 years. Her colour library, Luminary books and client palettes forecast the future of colour two to three years ahead. At Luminary’s Sussex studio, Anna also leads experiential workshops exploring inks and dyes made from foraged plants, hedgerow flowers and even food waste. Her immersion in design, colour creation and consultancy gives her a profound connection to product, surface, pattern and texture. She has collaborated with some of the world’s most renowned brands, from Manolo Blahnik to Marks & Spencer.
