About

Jimm Wong is a Singapore-based craftsman specialising in Foochow lantern making, a traditional practice originating from Fujian province and long associated festivals and celebrations within the Chinese community. His work reflects deep understanding of material, structure, and the meticulous assembly techniques required to create these luminous forms.

Drawing from Foochow techniques, the workshop focuses on the art of papercutting, where intricate patterns are carefully cut and assembled to form a simple, illuminated lamp.

Participants will learn how design, light, and structure come together to create visual depth and meaning. Through guided steps, they will create their own papercut lamp.
