About

Wytske is a silversmith based in Herefordshire, originally from the Netherlands, she has lived in Britain since the 1970s. Initially trained as a saddler, she was drawn to the versatility and expressive potential of silver, a material that quickly captured her imagination, and she fell in love with silversmithing. Over time, her practice evolved from larger functional pieces to more intimate, small-scale work, suiting her hands and her creative curiosity. Miniature watering cans fit these criteria perfectly.
Using traditional techniques such as hammering and tube-making, Wytske explores silver’s infinite possibilities, bringing each miniature watering can to life. Easily bored by repetition, she approaches each piece as a fresh conversation with the metal. Guided by intuition, she develops textures and details as she works, allowing each form to emerge organically through the making process.

Exhibiting at FORGE as part of The Secret Garden Showcase, 1 May – 1 June.
