About
Claire Underwood has been a practising jeweller for over 30 years, with a passion for colour sparked by childhood visits to Africa. She studied at Loughborough College of Art & Design and the Royal College of Art, where she explored enamelled surfaces and glass beads, combining bold colour with experimental techniques. After graduating in 1991, she received the Worshipful Company of Goldsmiths Award for Silversmithing and established her first studio at Cockpit.
Working in silver and gold, Claire continues to explore colour, texture and movement, creating her own “beads”—tiny hand-formed elements that add fluidity to her designs. Enjoying the challenge of making and attaching these elements, her work reflects an ongoing curiosity and a desire to push boundaries.
Exhibiting at FORGE as part of The Secret Garden Showcase, 1 May – 1 June.
