About

Emma McGilchrist draws inspiration from her surroundings, as well as from literature, poetry and personal mythology. She creates sculptural forms with characteristic kinetic elements, capturing small details from the natural world—the dust on a moth’s wing, light on moss, a curl of hair. It is within these moments that she finds the magic she seeks to hold in her work. Each piece is handmade as a one-off or in small editions, designed to be worn, handled and displayed. Having studied Fine Art Textiles at Goldsmiths before training in jewellery at Flux Studio, Camberwell, Emma now works from her garden workshop in Peckham.

Exhibiting at FORGE as part of The Secret Garden Showcase, 1 May – 1 June.
