About

Ekta Bagri is an artist–researcher whose practice operates at the intersection of making and archaeology. Working primarily with clay and fire, she explores how vessels embody the knowledge of their own making. Her sculptural and functional works act as records of decision, transformation, and material dialogue, shaped through collaborations between clay, atmosphere, and firing processes.

Bagri has undertaken fieldwork and residencies across East Asia and Europe, including research at Hõzangama in Bizen, Japan, collaborations with Okayama University of Science, and study with Onggi master Hyangjong Oh in South Korea and traditional Takatori potters in Japan and Vietnam. These experiences inform her understanding of regional techniques, local materials, and communal ceramic practices.

Her work has been exhibited internationally, including the British Ceramics Biennial and London Design Festival. Bagri is currently a DPhil candidate in Archaeology at the University of Oxford. She previously completed an MSc in Archaeology of Asian Ceramics at Oxford, an MA in Ceramics and Glass at the Royal College of Art, and a BA in Fine Art and History of Art at Goldsmiths, University of London.
