About

London based designers and makers Sedilia have been creating bespoke furniture to commission for leading interior designers since 1998. Experts in upholstery and frame making, Sedilia have spent over twenty-five years developing and perfecting their highly recognisable, reductive aesthetic – for which they have become well renowned.

For their Craft Week debut, Sedilia are excited to be hosting an informative talk for Interior Designers –

‘Commissioning Bespoke Upholstery: Everything You Need to Know’.

Sedilia’s founder Robert Stephenson will be in conversation with acclaimed Interior Designer Suzy Hoodless, sharing insight into their combined decades of experience designing and making bespoke upholstered furniture for prestigious projects. Working together over many years they have learnt the value of an open and creative dialogue between designer and maker.

A House & Garden Top 100 Interior Designer and former Interiors Editor of Wallpaper* magazine, Suzy Hoodless describes her interiors as a kind of alchemy: a creative mix of styles and eras, with a bold approach to colour and a touch of the unexpected.

Together, Robert and Suzy, accompanied by host Rory Robertson, will discuss the opportunities and advantages bespoke upholstery can offer, what you should expect from your maker and the process, and how to avoid common pitfalls, amongst other topics. Of course, there will also be time for a Q&A.

The aim of this discussion is not only to educate, but to inspire designers who might be unsure of how to navigate the process of commissioning bespoke upholstery.

During London Craft Week, Sedilia will also be opening the doors to their expansive Clapham based workshop to show where they have been crafting unique commissions and luxury collections for over 25 years.
