About

City & Guilds of London Art School hosts a vibrant two-day event that showcases some of the historic and contemporary craft skills that they champion on their undergraduate and postgraduate courses. Visitors are invited to enjoy an engaging programme of activities and gain a unique insight into the Art School.

Carving Competition and Open Studios
The carving studios are open, with first-year students participating in a themed carving competition judged by visitors and a panel of experts. Second and third-year students are showing works in progress, and visitors can try stone carving themselves.

Conservation Demonstrations
BA (Hons) Conservation students give demonstrations of different conservation techniques and processes. The Decorative Surfaces Fellow also provides demonstrations of painting techniques.

Gilding Demonstrations
Visitors can enjoy gilding demonstrations in the Gilding Studio, and find out more about the specialist craft of applying gold leaf to surfaces and objects.

Printmaking Workshops
Take part in a hands-on printmaking workshop held in the historic print room on Saturday 17 May. Workshops are one hour long and require booking via Eventbrite. Over 18s only.

Exhibitions
View the exhibition of entries for the Art School’s Taylor Pearce Drawing Prize, which is open to Carving and Conservation students. An exhibition of the National Saturday Club members’ work is also on display, showcasing the heritage craft skills that the 13 to 16-year-old participants have been learning this year.

Foundation Show 2025
The Foundation Show is an end-of-year celebration of the outstanding work of the the 2025 graduates studying on the Foundation Diploma in Art & Design.
