About
Continuing the success of 2021’s International Craft Talks on Contemporary Korean Craft, the Korea Association of Art and Design returns for London Craft Week 2022.
This year, they focus on the notion of ‘material’ in craft and the process of transforming different materials into craft objects. Makers have different ways of interpreting materials and through the talks we look at how Korean creative makers have mastered skills in craft to create their works. We have together with us Neil Brownsword, teacher, researcher and artist. His experience with Korea is invaluable. From Korea we have Sangeun KIM curator and team leader at the renowned Cheongju Craft Biennale. Among the creative makers we have the Loewe Foundation Craft Prize Finalist for 2022, Yongjin CHUNG in addition to Jihye KIM (resident artist at EKWC from June 2022), glass artist Kyouhong LEE and Hanji artist Sungrim PARK.
All talks are in English and through this event they will shed light on contemporary Korean craft, which has attracted many collectors in the UK.
