About

DiscoverĀ the exquisite craftsmanship of Khyenle, a renowned Tibetan bronze art center with a seven-generation history. Khyenle is celebrated for its unique Khyenle style, crafted using traditional lost wax casting techniques, among other methods. The artworks produced here embody Tibetan culture, holding spiritual and educational value while also serving as a space for exploring contemporary art forms. The center empowers artisans by providing sustainable employment, fostering cultural heritage, and helping them maintain economic independence. Additionally, Khyenle serves as a platform for local artisans and promotes sustainable community development in the Maisu area.

Upon arrival, guests will be warmly greeted by Dawa Dakpa and Dawa Drolma, who will guide them through an engaging demonstration of traditional metal chasing and engraving techniques. Dawa Dakpa will showcase the intricate process of manipulating cast Lima bronze using a variety of tools and techniques, offering guests the opportunity to observe the evolution of a piece of work through its different stages and the tools used in each.

Guests will have the chance to view a diverse selection of Tibetan Buddhism statues, ritual objects, andĀ jewelries, each meticulously crafted by skilled artisans from Maisu Valley (Dzongsar). Furthermore, Dawa Drolma will introduce guests to other artisan centers in Maisu beyond Khyenle. Maisu Valley is a remarkable place known for its rich tradition of Tibetan crafts, with nearly 30 artisan centers and one artisan out of every six residents in a village of just over 6,000 people. The valley produces a wide array of Tibetan crafts, including lost-wax casting, silversmithing, pottery, thangka painting, and wood carving.

Whether you are a collector, an art enthusiast, or someone who simply appreciates beauty and craftsmanship, this open house event is sure to captivate your senses and inspire your imagination. It is an unmissable opportunity to explore the rich cultural heritage of Tibetan crafts and support local artisans in their efforts to maintain and preserve this ancient tradition.
