About
Unleash your creativity and explore the world of heritage crafts and conservation with Square Mile Churches and the Diocese of London. They’re offering Year 10–12 students an exciting series of hands-on workshops, including two sessions during London Craft Week, led by some of London’s top craftspeople.
Designed to inspire future makers, this programme allows students to learn traditional craft techniques, develop new skills and explore career paths in craft and conservation. These workshops also provide a unique opportunity to work directly with professionals and discover the real-world challenges of preserving our cultural history. Supported by the National Heritage Lottery Fund, they offer fully funded places for 250 students from London schools.
What’s in store:
• Hands-on Workshops: Experience a wide range of heritage crafts, including gilding, illumination, stained glass, carving, lettering cutting, lime mortar and more — taught by expert practitioners.
• Creative ‘Have-a-Go’ Activities: Get hands-on and learn new techniques to create your own pieces.
• Discovering Heritage: Learn about the significance of cultural preservation and how these techniques are applied in live conservation projects.
• Career Insights: Meet industry professionals, explore career opportunities in craft and conservation and hear from rising stars shaping the field.
• Explore Historic London: Observe applied crafts and explore conservation needs in these historical settings.
Craft Careers Fair: On Wednesday 25 June, a Careers Fair at Holy Sepulchre London gives students the chance to meet industry leaders, discover training courses, apprenticeships and learn about funding options in the craft and conservation sectors.
Teachers: This programme is perfect for students interested in design, technology, history and the arts. It’s an invaluable opportunity for young people exploring career pathways in these fields. Don’t miss out — reserve your free places now!
