Marking a decade of safeguarding the UK’s most at-risk craft traditions, the 2025 Red List of Endangered Crafts debuts during London Craft Week, spotlighting the urgent need to protect heritage craft skills in an era of rapid change.
Hosted by Heritage Crafts at Furniture Makers Hall, this fifth edition, supported by the Pilgrim Trust, unveils critical updates to the landmark report, now the definitive authority on endangered crafts in the UK. It is the first edition to be published since the UK ratified the UNESCO Convention on Safeguarding Intangible Cultural Heritage, marking a new era of support for the UK’s knowledge, skills and practices.
The 2025 Red List expands its scope to assess many more crafts, adding newly endangered skills while celebrating the revival of others. For the first time, the report introduces a ‘Resurgent Crafts’ category, highlighting success stories of crafts buoyed by direct interventions by Heritage Crafts and partners such as The Royal Mint. Attendees can also witness live demonstrations by master artisans.
