About

Award-winning puppetry artist and director Oliver Hymans joins emerging puppet maker Ash Appadu for a captivating demonstration of marionette craftsmanship. Oliver has worked across four continents, designing and directing puppetry for theatre, opera, film, circus and music videos. His puppets have been showcased at prestigious venues such as Tate Modern, the Royal Albert Hall and The National Gallery, earning acclaim for their poetic precision and visual brilliance.

Ash, a rising talent in the world of puppetry, brings an innovative and experimental approach to puppet-making. After training at the renowned Little Angel Theatre, they debuted their first children’s puppet show, ‘Where the Water Falls’, which was praised for its heartfelt storytelling and imaginative design.

As part of the Homo Faber Fellowship, Ash is training under Oliver’s guidance, deepening their knowledge of marionette-making. Together, they are dedicated to preserving and evolving this intricate craft, ensuring its legacy continues to inspire future generations.
