About
Mythology is a Bristol-based furniture design and craft studio creating work that sits at the intersection of utility and expression. Rooted in traditional craft and a respect for natural materials, their pieces combine bold design with refined simplicity, creating furniture designed to endure and invite connection.
Mythology invites you to an exhibition presenting a new series of furniture pieces created in partnership with Britannicus Stone. The collection brings together two British raw materials formed across vastly different timescales, wood and stone.
Working with an exploratory approach to craftsmanship, the series places wood and stone into dialogue, exploring how the two materials interact within each piece and come together as one unified form. The work is also informed by the character of the materials themselves and by patterns, movement and irregularity found in the natural world, influencing both the form and presence of the furniture.
The exhibition will take place at the Britannicus Stone showroom, who specialise in sourcing, quarrying and manufacturing of British stone for decorative use. Their mission is to bring back into use the “Shining Stones of Britain”, championing native stone varieties as alternatives to imported marble. Their material selection includes a wide range of distinctive British stones, including fossil-rich limestone, alabaster and marble – several of which feature within the exhibition pieces.
