This thoughtfully curated showcase brings together innovative contemporary teawares crafted by some of the UK’s most talented silversmiths and ceramicists, all available to purchase.
Set within Newby London’s elegant tea showroom, the exhibition features work by renowned silversmiths including Abigail Brown, Alex O’Connor, Alice Fry, Annabel Hood, Caius Bearder, Cara Murphy, Chris Knight, Clive Burr, Colette Bishop, James Dougall, Kathryn Hinton, Martyn Pugh, Rauni Higson, Rebecca Oldfield and Yusuke Yamamoto, and ceramicists Chris Keenan, Jeremy Nichols, Sasha Wardell and Walter Keeler alongside exquisite and rare teas.
During the private view (Thursday 15 May, 2.30pm – 4.30pm), visitors can also enjoy an exclusive tea tasting led by a Newby Tea sommelier, offering a chance to experience expertly sourced teas. Additionally, attendees are invited to explore the Chitra Collection, an extraordinary private museum featuring nearly 3,000 historic teawares from Europe, Asia and the Americas.
Newby is a London-based luxury tea brand that sources the finest teas from the world’s best tea regions and carefully packs them in its carbon-neutral factory in India. Substantially owned by the N. Sethia Foundation, all profits are donated to charitable causes. The Chitra Collection, also owned by the Foundation, celebrates the global significance of tea and teaware design across thousands of years of history
The Goldsmiths’ Centre, a stone’s throw from Hatton Garden, supports the jewellery and silversmithing industry to embrace learning as an essential lifelong practice. Its award-winning building is home to over 100 makers and businesses, who have access to affordable workspace and suppliers they need on their doorstep. Through technical courses and business support, funding opportunities, events and exhibitions, it aims to close the industry’s skills gap, so that creativity, craftsmanship and community can thrive.
The pop-up exhibition runs between 12 May – 27 June 2025.
Opening hours: 9:30am – 5pm
Open doors: 12, 13, 14, 16, 20, 21 and 22 May
