‘Object Narratives’ Workshop with Helena Lacy
BOOKING INFORMATION
£8.00
This hands-on workshop explores the relationship between nature, materiality and storytelling. Participants bring an object found in nature and use clay to recreate and reimagine its textures and details. Inspired by Helena Lacy’s ‘Object Narratives’, attendees transform their object, creating a new narrative through craftsmanship and reflection.
About
This hands-on workshop invites participants to explore the intimate relationship between nature, materiality and storytelling.
Each person brings a personal object they have found in nature, such as a stone, leaf, shell, pressed flower or any other natural item that holds personal significance. Through the lens of this object, participants reflect on why they are drawn to it, what stories it might carry and how they can translate these stories into new forms using clay.
Drawing inspiration from Helena Lacy’s recent project ‘Object Narratives’, which explores how found objects are shaped by their surroundings and the stories they hold, this session combines storytelling with practical craftsmanship.
In this workshop, attendees use clay to recreate elements of their chosen object, focusing on shapes, textures and distinctive features — parts that are often overlooked — and attempt to replicate these details with a range of tools and surface detailing techniques. This process allows participants to create a new narrative, transforming the object into something entirely new.
