About

Creative studio Peascod, led by designer-makers Emma and Tobias Peascod, launches a limited-edition collection of statement mirrors and reflectors. The collection showcases their mastery in gilded mirrors and delicately observed sculpting, celebrating design and craftsmanship through distinctive, timeless pieces.

Produced entirely by hand in their Somerset studio, Peascod’s designs are deeply rooted in the duo’s combined West Country British and Japanese heritage. Their creations reflect the local landscape, whether through the flora and fauna of the British Isles, ancient traces of human activity etched into the terrain, or the rich folkloric traditions of both cultures. Their pieces display the confident asymmetry and palette of Japanese aesthetics.

Emma and Tobias Peascod bring a unique synergy of skills to every piece. Tobias’s mastery of sculptural form merges with Emma’s innovative interpretation of verre églomisé, the traditional art of reverse glass gilding. Together, they craft one-of-a-kind statement pieces imbued with narrative depth and a sense of discovery.

Their work is a study in contrasts, exploring the interplay of light and form while balancing playful illusion with darker, more atmospheric undertones. Drawn to the mysterious energy of twilight and the intricate drama of the landscape, their mirrors channel a duality — both luminous and mysterious, alive with the tension between life and decay. Emma’s mercurial, reflective surfaces add an ethereal quality to Tobias’s delicate yet bold sculpting, creating pieces that shift and transform with their surroundings.

The result is their distinctly contemporary take on the British rococo — a style rooted in the natural world, infused with drama, yet never veering into excess. Vital and captivating, their designs are luxurious, balancing richness with a refined lightness of touch. Each piece reveals a special kind of alchemy; atmospheric and full of detail, they capture fleeting glimpses of the landscape, allowing the interplay of light and form to bring them to life with every moment of contemplation.

The inaugural collection draws inspiration from the delicate and untamed beauty of nature — feathers, thorns, and leaves become the muse for these pieces. Each mirror balances fragility with savagery, juxtaposing shimmering light with intricate sculptural forms that evoke a sense of wonder.
