About

Emily Jo Gibbs presents the work created during her six-month residency, including a five-metre-long hand-stitched embroidery that celebrates the Makers of Trinity Buoy Wharf. Delicately stitched in her signature appliqué style, the piece features many of those working at the Wharf in London’s Docklands, such as the SS Robin restoration crew, English National Opera prop makers, and apprentice engineers on Thames Clippers. The embroidery offers a unique glimpse into the area’s vibrant creative community.

“I’m interested in the idea that by taking the time to slowly describe someone in stitch, you convey your admiration. Celebrating people who make things by investing time in the making process is a quiet, thoughtful act of care and value.” — Emily Jo Gibbs

Layering Colour: Hand-Stitched Collage Workshop
Drop-in workshops on Saturday and Sunday, 2–4pm

Emily Jo Gibbs creates intricate pieces by layering translucent fabrics, using hand stitching to add texture and depth. In this fun, hands-on session, Emily will introduce you to her techniques and guide you in creating your own sample piece.
