Standard Market reveals Park Royal – London’s most productive yet least discovered neighbourhood – where art and craft collide with science and technology. Makers step from warehouse workshops to share and demonstrate. Street foods, Damascus style Ice-cream and beer. A very real and slightly anarchic celebration of making.

About

Standard Market takes place in Park Royal, one of London’s most productive yet least understood neighbourhoods – it’s a place where art and craft collide with engineering, production, emerging technologies and AI.

Often described as London’s kitchen, Park Royal is also home to hundreds of food producers: traditional Damascus-style ice cream makers, Lebanese and Syrian grocers, wholesale nut and olive importers, coffee roasters, breweries and distilleries to name a few. It is also a district shaped by new infrastructure and innovation — from HS2 to new data centres and the emergence of ‘WestTech London’ lead by Imperial College. Here exciting questions around AI, automation and digital production sit alongside traditional methods of working with clay, timber, metal and print.

Standard Market brings this layered identity out onto the street.

For one weekend during London Craft Week, work normally hidden behind warehouse doors is made visible. Makers step out from workshops and studios to trade, demonstrate and discuss their process. Visitors are invited not just to buy, but to take part. The crafts people of Park Royal are open to sharing their methods, discussing their new ideas and collaborating with anyone. From recycled-material products and finely crafted jewellery to carved timber pieces, ceramics and utilitarian household goods.

Food forms a central part of the market. Producers who may appear inaccessible in their industrial settings become approachable here. Wholesale goods, specialist ingredients and street food sit alongside locally brewed beer and distilled spirits. All of this will reveal Park Royal’s role as a place of making at every scale.

Throughout the weekend, short drop-in workshops will take place up and down the market: from processing wild clay, wood carving, print making to learning practical DIY skills – visitors are encouraged to try their hand at everything!

Set against a raw industrial backdrop, Standard Market offers a surprising, slightly anarchic mix – a celebration of craft, production, collaboration and above all the revelation of a community bound by all three.
While here head over to The Foundry Collective for the pop up ‘Geek Market’ for all things tech and nerdy.
