TOAST Presents Stories Through Stitches

Join TOAST and artist Rosalind Wyatt to explore the concept of rewilding and contribute to a communal mixed-media collage. Using calligraphic marks, textiles, paper and stitchwork, this workshop aims to encourage creativity and a closer relationship with our environment, as well as honouring materials by reinventing and reusing. Recycled materials provided.

About

Join lifestyle brand TOAST and artist Rosalind Wyatt to explore the concept of rewilding and contribute to a communal mixed-media collage. TOAST aspires to a slower and more thoughtful way of life and believes in the importance of supporting and sustaining traditional textile techniques and craftsmanship.

For this open event, TOAST is joined by artist Rosalind Wyatt, who has worked with calligraphy and textiles for over 20 years. Much of her work is informed by language, philosophy and textile provenance. Under Rosalind’s guidance, visitors are invited to create their own unique piece for the collage, employing poetry, words, texture, colour and pattern inspired by the natural world around them. Each individual contribution, whether it be made from paper or remnant fabric, stitched, painted or drawn, becomes part of the final work, exhibited at the end of London Craft Week. Rosalind’s recent body of work exploring collage, calligraphy and cloth is on display for the duration of the week, serving as inspiration for those taking part.

The in-store participatory activity aims to bring together the TOAST community to foster thoughtfulness and creativity as we forge a closer relationship with our environment, honouring materials by reinventing and reusing. TOAST is providing waste yarns, pieces of recycled fabric and paper from their production to be reused in the collage.
