Tanner Krolle: A Gold and Leather Tale by Lucie Monin

Tanner Krolle hosts an exhibition of one-off pieces made in collaboration with prestigious French gilder Lucie Monin. A fusion of gold and leather, explore how these two ancient crafts elevate one another.

About

Tanner Krolle’s Belgravia townhouse hosts a unique exhibition featuring the Annabel bag and a jewellery pouch set hand-carved exclusively by Lucie Monin. These one-off art pieces are on display and available to purchase exclusively during London Craft Week. The colours of autumn blend with the most popular leather goods from Tanner Krolle’s latest collection.

Lucie Monin is a gilder artist who has been revisiting this 1,000-year-old knowhow for more than 10 years, adapting it to all media: from fashion and architecture through to object design.

Following in the footsteps of the craftsmen who maintain the existence of ancestral traditional creative arts, she safeguards gilding’s rich heritage through technical transmission, adapting it to today’s tastes. She draws and then engraves her decorations by hand in 22-carat gold.

Tabitha Simmons, Tanner Krolle’s creative director, fell in love with Lucie Monin’s sensibility and ancient technique. Through Lucie’s art, she envisioned an English wild garden adorned by the hand-carved gold into the leather. This concept also pays homage to Tanner Krolle’s roots and heritage, reflected at their Belgravia townhouse at 70 Cadogan Place.
