About

The Royal Thai Embassy, London, proudly presents “The Art of Thai Miniatures” as part of London Craft Week 2026, offering an intimate journey into Thai craftsmanship through exquisite miniature works, talks, and hands-on workshops. The main exhibition presents miniature Thai houses and household objects from the extensive collection of Mrs. Farida King, generously donated to the Royal Thai Embassy, London by her daughter, Ms. Lisa King. Meticulously crafted in miniature form, the works truly showcase exceptional Thai craftsmanship while opening a window onto Thai cultural values, everyday village life, and the rhythms of daily domestic spaces.

Visitors will encounter miniatures representing homes, household utensils, food, figures, animals, and daily objects, each reflecting refined taste, cultural appreciation, and artistic skill. The exhibition, alongside talks and hands-on workshops, provides a unique opportunity to explore refined handicrafts and discover modern interpretations of Thai culture through storytelling, craftsmanship, and creative engagement. Participants are also invited to engage with miniature-making, fostering a tangible connection with Thailand’s heritage and traditions.

Through these interactive experiences, audiences gain insight into the social, cultural, and aesthetic richness of Thai domestic and village life. The exhibition and accompanying activities demonstrate how miniature art preserves tradition while embracing contemporary interpretations, highlighting the continuity of Thai artistic practice from past to present.

Held at the Royal Thai Embassy in South Kensington, “The Art of Thai Miniatures” invites audiences to discover the exhibition, experience the craft, and engage with Thai culture in a meaningful, interactive way. Admission is free, with talks and workshops available on a first-come, first-served basis.
