About
Studio Pottery London unveils an exhibition of vases, following Gregory Tingay’s ‘Florilegium’ — a term that originates from the Latin, meaning ‘a gathering of flowers’. Historically, ‘florilegium’ also referred to medieval anthologies of extracts from ancient writings, and later was referred to in 18th-century treatises on rare plants.
Gregory presents a gathering of vases and bowls, both old and new, which interlink thematically. Many are animated through their decorative surfaces and organic patterns, referring directly and indirectly to plants and the movement of living things.
Studio Pottery London is hosting an intimate workshop demonstrating Gregory’s career producing vases with a sgraffito technique. The workshop is held at Studio Pottery London, located in the heart of Victoria. Their carefully curated space provides the perfect environment for city dwellers to come together to learn and create in this place of calm and community.
