About
Explore the rich material heritage of Westminster Abbey at two events held especially to mark London Craft Week. For over 1,000 years, generations of craftspeople have worked on building and enriching Westminster Abbey. The beautifully carved stonework, elaborate windows and intricate floors not only give the Abbey character but also play an important role in conveying messages about faith, legacy and nationhood.
Throughout the week, special guided tours highlight some of the beautiful examples of craftsmanship that can be found in Westminster Abbey. Over the course of an hour, guests have time to examine the little details and unpick the layers of meaning that can be found at every turn.
On Wednesday 14 May, visit the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Galleries after hours. Take time to explore the collections and hear from the conservation team about the work that they do to stabilise and preserve the historic objects on display.
