Art and Design Press presents ‘Chinese Design: Harmony in Diversity’, an exhibition showcasing traditional Chinese crafts alongside innovative modern designs.

The exhibition presents the two important Chinese principles of ‘harmony’ and ‘elegance’ to a London audience, with themes including ‘Harmony of Textiles’ and ‘Elegance of Porcelain’. These sections aim to depict the harmonious coexistence between humans and nature, as well as among individuals, expressing the essence of Chinese culture.

The opening ceremony for the exhibition includes a curator-led tour and a charity sale of handcrafted goods from the ‘Mama’s Needlework’ project. This public welfare project, initiated by Ping An and The Art and Design Press Co., Ltd, was launched in August 2020 in Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture of China. Dedicated to poverty alleviation and social welfare, the project promotes the employment of poor women while activating national intangible cultural heritage. Secondhand clothes are redesigned with traditional elements for sale, alongside various other handcrafted products.
