About
Bahareh Khomeiry is a ceramic artist whose practice bridges architecture and emotional expression, transforming clay into dynamic, living forms. Her process begins with construction β layering, assembling, and building β before evolving into sculptural works that suggest movement, wind, and shifting inner states.
Drawing on her Persian heritage and her experience as an Iranian woman, her work reflects themes of memory, resilience, and quiet resistance. She uses clay as a language to express what cannot always be spoken, creating pieces that feel both intimate and universal.
Her series Hair as Freedom: Cut Plaits reflects a powerful act of protest β cutting braided hair as a symbol of defiance, mourning, and solidarity among women. The work traces a journey from restriction toward unity, where individual strands come together to express collective strength.
