About
Beverley Sommerville is a studio potter and ceramic artist based in Cheshire. Her practice explores the relationship between material and place, incorporating elements gathered from locations or events of personal and historical significance. By blending these materials into clay, she creates ceramic art that captures the essence of time and place.
She has exhibited her work both internationally and across the UK. Notably, Beverley established the ‘Nomadic Makers’ ceramic studio in Taiwan and led tile-making workshops during her artist residency at Alice Billing House in London. Through these initiatives, she has deepened her connections with diverse communities and enriched her artistic practice.
Currently, Beverley is exhibiting at the Manchester Craft and Design Centre as part of a Design Nation collaboration. She has also been accepted to exhibit at Tinker Gallery in Ilkley and at the Yorkshire Sculpture Park in 2026. Her work is available at York Art Gallery and Blackwell, The Arts and Crafts House in Cumbria.
