About

Cadi Froehlich makes artworks to live with. She takes inspiration from traditional slipware and adds motifs of connection and humanity. Each unique piece is a sculpture which gives the viewer confidence to interact with the form and materials of the object.
Using clay marked with, salvaged copper, cables and electrical components, her work investigates the shared wisdoms, support and the technology which sustain her. Her larger installations allow a physical interaction in the space, playing with the assumptions we make about permission to touch, to take up space, and to use artwork in our daily lives. These pieces bring the familiar sense of home into unexpected domestic and public shared spaces.
She received an MA Fine Art from UAL Chelsea and Camberwell, BA Fine Art from Brighton. Cadi won 2nd prize in the Jerwood Drawing Prize 2010, followed by the Red Mansion Prize comprising a month residency in Beijing in 2015 and a show at Slade. As a result of that work, she won the Presidents Prize at The London Group Open in 2016 and was elected a member.
She continues to show with The London Group a couple of times a year in London and beyond, including the recent 111th anniversary show at Quay arts in Newtown, on the Isle of Wight. Also, she frequently participates in the artist talks at these shows. Her recent experience on The Great Pottery Throw Down including being Potter of the Week in Episode 2, is a working example of connecting with new people, places and practices as she explores the contrasts of working as a 3D artist in a digital society.
