About
Cesca is an artist and designer working with textiles. She grew up in London with English and Polish parents. She originally trained in costume design, studying at Wimbledon College of Art and worked in film and theatre for many years. She now designs printed and woven textiles for interiors. Her interests are wide reaching: her designs emerge from her daily practice of painting, drawing and collage making. These are often representations of fruits, flowers and abstract characters .
She is drawn to traditional methods of textile printing and weaving, and seeks to create things that have a rough uniqueness. She makes cushions, quilts, blankets and table linen, all in small quantities and in the UK.
She looks to folk art for inspiration, and recently has been investigating the history of Polish folk art and textile design. Visits to folk museums in Poland have helped shape how she sees her work, and her show for London Craft Week is a response to these visits.
Cesca often collaborates with other designers on projects, a process she finds very enriching. Her work has been featured in House & Garden, Vogue and World of Interiors.
