About
Christopher Howe brings a unique perspective to the interiors and furniture industry. With a background in art, he deeply understands the processes and craftsmanship involved in creating and restoring pieces. This insight has led him to select items and design items and interiors that inspire in a truly distinctive way.
In 1986 having graduated from Goldsmiths art college, Christopher stumbled on a derelict shop intended to be his sculpture studio. With the energy of all the antique shops just around the corner, Christopher soon found himself buying pieces to sell, often restoring them himself, and learning how they were made. His love of the hunt meant that before long 36 Bourne Street was overflowing and a new space was required.
93 Pimlico Road was opened in 1996, allowing him to display larger antique items and the budding range of ‘Made by Howe’ designs, further establishing his credentials as a renowned antiques dealer and furniture maker.
More recently, Christopher embarked on a transformative project a few steps around the corner from our Pimlico Road shop. The Grade II listed C19th stables have been transformed into a spectacular gallery. Walls were pulled down and flooring taken up ~ joyous discoveries along the way included uncovering skylights, beautiful wooden beams and original wooden cobbles. Carefully and sensitively restored, the Howe Gallery is a magnificent space of great history and scale. Home to the most exquisite Howe pieces, from the most exemplary antiques to our most exciting and incredibly crafted ‘Made by Howe’ furniture and lighting.
