About
Elis is a new up incoming visual colour designer based in Scotland. She discovered her love for colour exploration and design as a student at The Glasgow School of Arts as an undergraduate studying Textiles in Fashion and Interior Design specialising in Knitted Textiles since 2022 and graduating in 2024.
While working on her final project she soon discovered different ways to create colour pallets and exploring different forms of colour proportion. Thread Wraps is a very well-known technique to use for colour proportions within the design industry and Elis took it as a new way to express her emotions and thoughts on how colour should be seen. Using a strong and wide range of recycled sewing threads and creating small patterns and design, wrapping and layering multiple threads one after one to create a beautiful and delicate design that have so much definition and texture.
The colour inspiration comes from her surroundings, living in the countryside of Scotland colour is discovered in every corner of the outdoors as for the structure designs of her work are more linear, gridded and repetitive inspired by a mix of ancient and modern geometric tapestries that she researched during her time in university.
This current collection is focused on events spent with people who mean the most to her, and recreating those times into rich and colourful threads wrap designs. Colour is an important element in a human beings life, without it the world would be boring and dull, the colour we see in photographs or videos releases so much emotion and that is exactly what this work will bring.
