About

Pemberton has been making bright, modern, big and useful patchwork quilts since 2012. Emily Campbell was a pattern maker for the fashion designer Jean Muir and an accomplished dress and costume maker, before training at Yale School of Art as a graphic designer and working for several years at Pentagram in New York. Today she combines her knowledge in patchwork quilts, bringing a graphic artist’s sense of visual tension and contrast to the geometry of traditional patchwork. She calls patchwork “a labour of love down the centuries, a geometry of the parlour, an ancient recycling system and one of the world’s oldest heating technologies.” In 2023 Emily collaborated with Anya Hindmarch for London Fashion Week and with PINCH for London Craft Week. She was among the textile artists selected for the inaugural contemporary design interventions at David Parr House in Cambridge.
