About
Erum Aamir is a ceramic artist based in Manchester. Formerly a physicist, she brings a scientific sensibility to her practice, exploring the intersection of observation and imagination. Her work is inspired by microscopic studies of plant structures, where hidden cellular patterns and organic systems become a starting point for sculptural exploration.
Working primarily with porcelain, Aamir hand-builds intricate, delicate forms using minimal tools, allowing an intuitive and meditative process to guide the making. Her use of thin, translucent material emphasises fragility, movement, and growth, reflecting the quiet rhythms found in nature. Rather than replicating botanical forms directly, she translates them into imagined, otherworldly structures that sit between the scientific and the poetic.
Aamir has exhibited both nationally and internationally, and her practice continues to evolve through research, experimentation, and a sustained engagement with the natural world.
